Are there strategies to win more often?

TL;DR

No guaranteed wins - it's a bet. But there are healthy principles: bet on topics you know well, diversify your bets, set a weekly budget, take breaks, never bet to "win your money back". Prediction Mode is also an excellent free training ground.

The myth of the "secret to winning"

First, let's be clear: there is no secret, no formula, no magic strategy to win systematically at betting.

Betting is by definition uncertain. Even the best predictors lose regularly. The question isn't "how do I never lose" but "how do I lose less, win more, and stay balanced".

Anyone who promises you a foolproof strategy is lying to you or selling you hot air. We'd rather be honest with you.

The 5 principles of good bettors

1. Bet on what you truly know.

If you know soccer well, bet on soccer. If you follow Cameroonian politics, bet on Cameroonian politics. If you follow crypto daily, bet on crypto.

The bettors who win the most are the ones who focus on topics they master. Not the ones who bet on anything and everything.

Concrete example: a bettor in Yaoundé who has followed Real Madrid for 10 years will have an informational edge over someone betting on a random Real Madrid match.

2. Diversify your bets.

Never put everything on a single bet. Spread your stakes across several independent events. If you lose one, the others make up for it.

Rule of thumb: at most 20% of your weekly budget on a single bet.

3. Set a budget and stick to it.

Decide how much you can afford to lose per week or per month. Stick to that budget, even when you're winning (otherwise you'll end up losing it all back).

Ktkarena offers automatic limits: in Settings → Limits, you can set a maximum weekly loss. The system blocks your bets when you reach it. Set up my limits.

4. Take breaks.

Don't bet every day. Especially not during emotional periods (after a big loss, after a big win, after a stressful event in your life).

The bettors who lose big are almost always the ones who bet without breaks. The brain needs to breathe.

5. Never bet to "win your money back".

You lost 50K. You tell yourself: "I'll stake 100K to win it back." That's the classic trap that ruins most bettors.

If you've lost, stop. Come back later. Don't stake to make up for a loss - that's the direct road to an even bigger loss.

Psychological traps to avoid

Tilt. After a bad day, you get emotional and bet recklessly. Recognize that moment and stop.

The illusion of control. You tell yourself "I know Real Madrid is going to win". You don't. Nobody does. Stay humble.

Confirmation bias. You read 5 articles saying "Real Madrid will win" and conclude it's a sure thing. That's just an echo chamber. Look for the articles that say the opposite too.

Sunk cost. "I've already put in 100K, I have to keep going to get it back." No. The past is the past. Decide on the next bet independently.

FOMO. "Everyone is betting on this match, I have to be in." That's exactly the moment not to bet. If everyone shares the same conviction, the odds are worthless.

Pool strategy: your two levers

Two personal preferences give you control over the pool phase:

Pool acceptance (3 values):

  • Always: you systematically accept, even if you've already been matched P2P.
  • If needed (default): you accept only if your bet hasn't been matched P2P.
  • Never: you systematically refuse the pool. Automatic refund if not matched P2P.

Minimum pool odds (between 1.00 and 5.00, in 0.10 steps, default 1.20): the lowest odds you accept in the pool. Below that, automatic refund.

Common strategies:

  • Maximalist P2P: acceptPool = "Never". You only play against people, never in the pool. Downside: if liquidity runs short, you get refunded at the end of the event.
  • Pragmatic: acceptPool = "If needed", min odds = 1.20 (default). You maximize your chances of being matched while keeping a minimum pool odds threshold.
  • Greedy pool: acceptPool = "Always", min odds = 1.50. You actively seek the pool, but only at high odds (favorable asymmetry).

When to ask for help

If you feel your betting is becoming a problem (you bet more than you can afford, you lie to your loved ones, you bet instead of working), it's time to ask for help.

Ktkarena offers several tools:

  • Automatic limits: to block your bets beyond a budget.
  • Self-exclusion: to block your account for 30 days / 6 months / 1 year.
  • External resources: problem-gambling prevention associations in the CEMAC zone.

Contact details available in Settings → Responsible gaming, or on our self-exclusion page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

On other platforms, yes (sharps). On Ktkarena, using automated bots is forbidden. You have to bet yourself, with your own judgment.

No. The vast majority are scams. They sell you predictions with no better odds of being right than random picks. Never pay for predictions.

No frequency is "good" in itself. The test is: does your betting remain a balanced pleasure, or is it becoming an obsession? If it's an obsession, take a break.
