Before deleting your account: 3 things to know
1. Your balance must be zero.
Otherwise, the deletion is refused. If you can't bring it down to zero, write to privacy@ktkarena.com: the Privacy Policy (Article 8.3) lets you request the erasure of your data.
2. No challenge can be in progress.
A challenge waiting for an opponent, matched or in the pool also blocks the deletion. Wait for it to be settled, or cancel those that can be (Terms, Article 7.6).
3. Export your data if you want to keep it.
In the app, Settings → “Download my data”: Request a copy of my data. After the deletion, you won't be able to log in to do it.
Deletion step by step
- In the app, open Settings and tap “Delete my account”.
- Pick a reason: the app asks for one before you can continue.
- A six-digit code is sent to your e-mail address. It's the only proof accepted to erase an account. The screen shows how long it has left before it expires; you can ask for a new one.
- Enter the code, read the consequences shown, then tap “Delete permanently”.
The account is deleted on the spot and you're logged out.
What happens at the moment of deletion
Everything happens in a single operation, the moment you confirm:
- Your profile is anonymized: your e-mail address and username are replaced; your password, display name, bio, pictures and two-factor authentication are erased. Your old username becomes available again.
- You're logged out on all your devices.
- Erased: your notifications, your messages and reactions in your challenges' chat, your friends, your challenges between friends, your place in your leagues, your matching preferences, your shop purchases and the images in your posts.
There is no window to change your mind: neither you nor support can recover the account afterwards. See Recover a deleted account.
What is kept, and what goes later
Kept:
- Your KYC data (identity, documents) is kept for 5 years after closure, in line with gambling regulation in Cameroon.
- Your past challenges, your transactions and your referrals, without your username: your opponent still sees your past challenges. The Privacy Policy (Article 6) sets the retention of financial transactions at 10 years.
Erased after 30 days: what remains of your game data (achievements, XP, missions, predictions, rankings) and your login logs.
Still visible, without your username: your private messages, your messages in league chats, the text of your posts, your comments and your klashes. Messages in an event's chat are erased for everyone once the event has been resolved for more than 24 hours; those of a canceled event remain.
Why the difference: KYC and financial data is retained as a legal obligation (anti-money laundering, taxation, regulator compliance). We can't delete it sooner even if you ask.
