Reinstall the app without losing my data

TL;DR

Reinstalling is safe: your bets, your balance, your history, your friends, and your leagues are on our servers, not on your device. Only local settings (filters, theme) and the cache are erased. You log back in with your number and password, and you get everything back exactly as before. 5-minute procedure.

What's on your device vs on our servers

On our servers (so preserved if you reinstall):

  • Your account (phone number, username, validated KYC).
  • Your KTK balance.
  • All your ongoing and resolved bets.
  • All your ongoing and resolved predictions.
  • Your transaction history (deposits, withdrawals).
  • Your friends, followers, and people you follow.
  • Your private leagues and their internal rankings.
  • Your Devin score, your badges, your trophies.
  • Your ongoing disputes.
  • Your notification settings.

On your device (so erased on reinstall):

  • The visual cache (images, thumbnails).
  • Your custom feed filters (to set up again).
  • Your unsynced local drafts (rare).
  • Your local theme preferences (dark/light mode).
  • Your local chat history beyond what's on the server.
  • Your login token (you'll have to log back in).

Percentage "lost". Less than 1% of your experience. And everything can be set up again in 2 minutes.

The clean reinstall procedure

Step 1 - Mental backup (optional but recommended):
Before uninstalling, make a mental note or take a screenshot of:

  • Your active feed filters (if you have any).
  • Your theme (dark/light) if you care about it.
  • Your pending drafts (send them before uninstalling so you don't lose them).

Step 2 - Uninstall:

On Android:

  1. Long-press the Ktkarena icon → Uninstall → Confirm.
  2. Optionally, also clear the remaining data: Android Settings → Apps → Ktkarena → Storage → "Clear all data" (before uninstalling).

On iPhone:

  1. Long-press the icon → Delete app → Confirm.

Step 3 - Reinstall:

  1. Go to Google Play Store or the App Store.
  2. Search for Ktkarena.
  3. Install the latest version.

Step 4 - Log back in:

  1. Open the app.
  2. Tap "Log in" (not "Create an account"!).
  3. Enter your phone number (with the country code).
  4. Enter your password.
  5. If 2FA is enabled, enter the 2FA code.
  6. You're back. Your entire account is there.

Setting things up again after reinstalling

On first launch after reinstalling, you see your account normally. But some local settings may have been reset. Check:

1. System permissions:

  • Notifications: allow push.
  • Camera: allow (for future KYC, disputes).
  • Face ID/Touch ID: set up if you want biometric login.

2. Ktkarena preferences:

  • Profile → Notifications: set your notification types again if needed.
  • Profile → Appearance: set the theme (dark/light) again if you care about it.
  • Profile → Performance: re-enable data saver mode if you were using it.

3. Check your drafts:
If you had pending drafts, check that they were sent before uninstalling. Otherwise, they're lost.

Total time to set things up again: 2-3 minutes for most users.

When to reinstall (and when not to)

Reinstalling is useful when:

  • The app refuses to launch.
  • The app crashes systematically after a few minutes.
  • You're seeing persistent abnormal behavior even after clearing the cache.
  • You did a big OS update and the app has issues.
  • You're switching phones (on the new one, it's a "first install" but the account is recovered).

Reinstalling is useless when:

  • You just have a network connection problem (server issue, your WiFi).
  • You forgot your password (use "Forgot password").
  • You want to change your phone number (use the dedicated procedure).
  • You want to delete your account (different procedure). Closing my account.

If you're hesitating. Reinstall. It's risk-free. Worst case, you lose 5 minutes setting things up again. Best case, it solves your problem.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Your account stays active on our servers. You can get it back whenever you want by reinstalling. After 12 months of inactivity, we may send you an "Are you still there?" email - that's all, no automatic closure.

Yes. Disputes live on the server side. Uninstalling the app has no impact on their progress.

No, not automatically. Go to Profile → Security → Connected devices to manage it manually. It's a good habit after switching phones.
