Reporting or blocking a user

TL;DR

Reporting = escalating problematic behavior to Ktkarena moderation, handled within 24h on average. Blocking = cutting off all contact with a user (no DMs, no matching, no profile visits). The two can be combined. Abusive reports are sanctioned.

When to report vs block

Reporting is useful when:

  • The behavior violates the community rules (insults, harassment, spam, illegal content).
  • You want moderation to step in (potentially sanction the user).
  • You want to protect other users from toxic behavior.

Blocking is useful when:

  • You just want to cut off contact with a specific user, without sanctioning them.
  • The user isn't violating the rules but you don't feel like interacting.
  • You want them to no longer be able to see you or be matched with you.

You can do both: report AND block. The report triggers moderation; the block cuts off direct contact. They're complementary for serious cases.

How to report a user or a message

Reporting a specific message (event chat or DM):

  1. Long-press the message.
  2. Tap "Report".
  3. Choose the reason:
    • Insult or hate speech.
    • Harassment.
    • Spam.
    • Fraud or scam.
    • Someone else's personal information.
    • Market manipulation.
    • Other (please specify).
  4. Add a comment (optional but recommended to help moderation).
  5. Submit.

Reporting an entire user (not a specific message):

  1. Go to the user's profile.
  2. Tap the menu in the top right.
  3. Tap "Report this user".
  4. Choose the reason and explain in detail.
  5. Submit.

Important - Abusive reports. If you report 10+ users with unfounded reasons within 30 days, you receive a warning. In cases of recurring malicious reports (trying to use moderation to harass someone you don't like), you can be sanctioned yourself. Only report when it's legitimate.

How to block a user

  1. Go to the user's profile.
  2. Tap the menu in the top right.
  3. Tap "Block this user".
  4. Confirm.

Immediate effects of blocking:

  • The blocked user can no longer send you DMs.
  • They can no longer see your profile (they see "This user has blocked you").
  • They can no longer follow you (if they were following you, they're automatically unfollowed).
  • They can no longer invite you to a private league.
  • You can no longer be matched together in the arena (our system avoids pairing you in the cascade).
  • Their messages in event chats are hidden from you (you no longer see them).

The blocked user isn't notified of the block. They find out when trying to interact with you.

You can unblock at any time from Settings → Blocked.

What happens next

After a report:

  1. You receive an immediate confirmation: "Your report has been received. Moderation will review it within 24h."
  2. The reported user isn't notified of your report (your identity is protected).
  3. Moderation reviews the context:
    • Reads the reported message or profile.
    • Checks the user's history (repeat offender or isolated case).
    • Cross-references with any other reports (if several people reported the same thing, that's a strong signal).
  4. Decision made within 24h on average:
    • No violation: no action. You receive "Report dismissed (invalid reason)."
    • Warning: the user receives an official warning without a sanction.
    • Temporary mute: 1h, 24h, 7 days, or 30 days depending on severity. The user can no longer write in public chats or send DMs during that period.
    • Permanent chat ban: for serious repeat offenders. The user keeps access to the platform to bet but can no longer interact socially.
    • Account suspension: for major violations (serious fraud, repeated harassment, illegal content). The account is suspended pending a thorough investigation.
  5. You receive a notification of the outcome (unless, for confidentiality reasons, we can't reveal the exact sanction).
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Our anti-multi-account system (KYC) makes that very hard. If we detect that a blocked account is trying to contact you again through another account, we ban the new account too.

Reports and how they were handled are kept for 2 years for moderation and recurrence purposes. Beyond that, they're anonymized.

Go to Profile → My sanctions → Contest. Explain why you believe the sanction is unjustified. Another moderator re-reviews within 48h.
