How to send a private message
Several ways to start a private conversation:
Method 1 - From a profile.
- Tap a user's handle (chat, leaderboard, league).
- On their profile, tap "Send a message".
- Write your message and send.
Method 2 - From the event chat.
- Tap a user's handle in the chat.
- Tap "Private message".
- You're taken to a private conversation with them.
Method 3 - From the Social → Messages tab.
- Go to Social → Messages.
- Tap "New conversation".
- Type the handle or search in your contacts/followers.
- Start the conversation.
Once the conversation is started, it appears in Messages on both sides. You can come back to it at any time.
Who can read your messages
A private conversation is read by two people: you and the person you're talking with. Messages aren't end-to-end encrypted: they're stored on Ktkarena's servers, and Ktkarena can technically read them. For truly confidential information, don't use private messages.
Choosing who can message you
In Settings → Privacy, the “Who can message me” section offers “Everyone” (the default), “My friends only” or “Nobody”. With “Nobody”, nobody can send you a private message anymore, even in a conversation that's already open; your conversations stay readable.
You can change this setting at any time.
Limits and rules
Limits:
- No daily cap: only the pace is limited, per minute (new conversations and messages), against spam.
- Attachments: images and voice messages, on top of text.
Rules:
- Same rules as the event chat: no insults, harassment, spam.
- Reporting: a private message can't be reported on its own. To report the person, open their profile (tap the conversation header, then “View profile”) and choose “Report” in the “⋮” menu.
- Blocking possible: a blocked user can no longer send you DMs. Reporting or blocking.
Important. Never share your sensitive information (password, 2FA code, recovery codes) in a DM. No legitimate admin or user will ever ask for them. If someone asks, it's phishing. Recognizing phishing attempts.
