Friend activity notifications

TL;DR

You can get notifications when the people you follow unlock badges, finish in the top 100 of a leaderboard, or resolve a big bet. Everything is finely configurable in Settings → Notifications → Friend activity. Each activity type can be turned off individually.

The 5 types of notifications available

For the people you follow, you can receive notifications for:

1. New badge or trophy unlocked. "[Handle] just unlocked the Visionary badge (10 streak)."

2. Entry into a top leaderboard. "[Handle] just entered the Devin leaderboard top 100!"

3. Big bet or prediction resolved. "[Handle] resolved a bet with a 50,000 KTK win." (only if the user allowed public notification on that bet)

4. Activity in a shared league. "[Handle] just passed you in the Yaoundé Foot Fans league leaderboard."

5. New prediction activity. "[Handle] just made a big prediction on the 2027 French presidential election."

How to configure them

Go to Settings → Notifications → Friend activity. You'll see the list of the 5 types above. For each one:

  • Off: no notification received for this type.
  • Push only: push notification, no email.
  • Push + email: both.
  • Email only: email without push.

By default, only the "badges and trophies" and "entry into a top leaderboard" notifications are on. The rest is off so we don't spam you.

Notifications for a specific user

If you want finer control, you can turn off notifications for a specific user while still following them:

  1. Go to their profile.
  2. Tap the menu.
  3. Choose "Mute notifications from this user".

You still see their activity in your feed (when you open it), but without intrusive push.

Use case: you follow 50 people. 5 of them are very active and spam you with notifications. You mute their notifications individually while still seeing their activity in your feed.

The temporary "quiet" mode

If you're going on vacation or through a period where you want some peace, you can enable a temporary quiet mode:

  1. Go to Settings → Notifications → Quiet mode.
  2. Choose a duration: 24h, 7 days, 30 days, or custom.
  3. Turn it on.

During the chosen period:

  • No push notifications.
  • Non-urgent emails are held back (but accessible when you're back).
  • Only security notifications (suspicious sign-in) and transaction notifications (deposit/withdrawal) get through.

At the end of the period, notifications resume automatically. You can turn it off manually earlier if you change your mind.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Check that you're not in quiet mode. Also check the system-level notification permissions (iOS/Android) - the app may be blocked outside of Ktkarena.

There's no quota. You receive as many notifications as you allow, within reasonable system limits (iOS/Android may group them if there are too many).

Not for now. The current granularity is "public" or "private". Targeted sharing is something we're considering for the future.
