TL;DR

Go to the user's profile (tap their handle in the chat or a leaderboard), then tap "Follow". You get their public activity in your feed. No notification sent to the followed person by default - it's discreet. You can unfollow at any time. Limit of 500 people followed.

How to find an interesting user to follow

Several ways to discover interesting users:

1. Through the leaderboards. Go to Prediction → Leaderboards. The best predictors (top 100, top 10) are visible with their handle. Tap their handle to see their profile. If their stats inspire you, follow them. The general Devin leaderboard.

2. Through the event chat. In the chat of an active event, you see the other bettors' messages. If someone shares interesting analyses, tap their handle in the chat to go to their profile.

3. Through your past opponents. In your bet history, tap the handle of someone you've bet against. You can follow the opponents who made an impression on you.

4. Through search. If you know a user's handle (for example, a friend who gave you theirs), type it in the app's search bar.

5. Through recommendations. In Profile → Suggestions, we suggest users to follow based on your favorite themes and your activity.

The 3-tap follow process

  1. Tap the user's handle (from anywhere in the app - chat, leaderboard, opponent profile). You land on their public profile.
  2. Tap the "Follow" button at the top right of the profile. The button turns green and switches to "Following".
  3. Done. From now on, their public activity appears in your home feed (Prediction tab → Following feed).

No approval to wait for, no permission to request. Following is one-way (like on Twitter or Instagram): you follow whoever you want, and you can be followed by anyone (unless you enable the Private profile).

What you get in your feed

When you follow someone, their public activity appears in your feed:

  • Their resolved public bets (with the result, not the amounts).
  • Their resolved predictions with their Devin point gains.
  • Their newly unlocked badges.
  • Their earned trophies.
  • Their entry into a leaderboard's top 100.

You don't get:

  • Their ongoing bets (private).
  • The exact amounts they've staked.
  • Their private messages.
  • Their interactions in private leagues you're not part of.

You can filter your feed by activity type (Settings → Feed) if you only want to see, for example, badges and trophies.

Limits and rules

Limits:

  • 500 people maximum followed at the same time. Beyond that, you have to unfollow someone before you can follow a new person.
  • No limit on the number of followers (you can be followed by 1 or 100,000 people without constraint).

Rules:

  • Following sends no notification to the followed person by default. It's discreet. The person can see it if they check their follower list, but otherwise it stays invisible.
  • You can unfollow at any time (tap "Following" on their profile → "Unfollow"). The person isn't notified of the unfollow.
  • Following has no impact on your bets or theirs. It's purely informational.
