TL;DR

Go to Social → Private leagues → Create. Give your league a name, pick a theme (or leave it general), invite your friends by handle or phone number. Up to 50 members per league. League-specific leaderboard, private chat between members, internal weekly challenges. Free, with up to 20 active leagues at a time.

Why create a private league

A private league is a small group of Ktkarena users who want to:

  • Challenge each other on a leaderboard specific to the group.
  • Talk in a private chat reserved for members.
  • See the detailed bets of other members (with amounts - unlike the public profile).
  • Organize internal challenges (for example, "Who among us will get the best score on the Africa Cup?").

It's the "among friends" spirit of betting: transparency is stronger within the group you chose, because you also talk together outside the app.

Typical use cases:

  • A crew of friends who bet on their team's matches.
  • A WhatsApp group of political predictors who want a dedicated space in the app.
  • Office coworkers who have fun predicting tech announcements.
  • An extended family following a sports season together.

The creation process in 5 steps

  1. Open the app and go to the Social tab (icon at the bottom).
  2. Tap "Private leagues" → "Create a league".
  3. Choose a name for your league. Must be between 3 and 30 characters. Examples: "Yaoundé Foot Fans", "Crypto Squad 237", "Famille Kameni".
  4. Choose a theme (optional):
    • General (everything): no particular focus.
    • Sports only.
    • Politics only.
    • Crypto only.
    • Etc.
The theme choice affects the automatic challenges we suggest to the league.
  5. Invite your first members:
    • By handle: type their Ktkarena handle.
    • By phone number: if the person is registered, they're found. Otherwise, we send them an SMS invitation to join the app and the league.
    • By share link: generate a link you can send via WhatsApp/SMS/email. Anyone who clicks it can join.

Your league is created. You're its admin by default.

The configuration settings

Once the league is created, you can configure:

Visibility:

  • Private, invite-only (default): new members must be explicitly invited.
  • Private, on request: a user can "request to join" and you approve.
  • Public: anyone can join via search. Avoid this for real leagues between friends.

Bet visibility between members:

  • Amounts visible (default): between league members, you see your exact amounts.
  • Amounts hidden: you only see the results (won/lost), not the amounts.

Notifications:

  • Enable or disable notifications for new bets in the league.

Automatic challenges:

  • Enable automatic weekly challenges (the platform suggests a challenge every week based on the theme).

Limits and rules

Limits:

  • Up to 50 members per league (admin included).
  • No limit on the number of leagues you can create or join.
  • Maximum 20 active leagues at the same time per user (to avoid excessive fragmentation).

Rules:

  • You can leave a league at any time. Leaving or dissolving a league.
  • The admin can remove a member or promote another to co-admin.
  • If the admin leaves without naming a successor, seniority automatically designates the new one (the longest-standing member).
  • A league with 0 members is automatically dissolved after 30 days.
