The rule for edits before the deadline
In Prediction Mode, you can freely edit or cancel your prediction as long as the event hasn't started.
That's different from the Arena where, once your bet is matched to an opponent, cancellation costs a 10-20% penalty. In Prediction Mode, there's no opponent to protect - you play alone against the outcome. So there's no reason to penalize changing your mind.
In practice:
- You predict "Real Madrid wins" in the morning.
- You change your mind in the afternoon after reading a worrying article.
- You can switch to "Barcelona wins" in 3 taps. No penalty, no points lost.
- You change your mind again 1 hour before the match. You can edit again.
Limit: the prediction deadline is the same as for Arena bets - usually 30 seconds before the event's official start. After that, your prediction is permanently locked.
How to edit your prediction
- Go to Prediction → My predictions.
- Find the event you want to edit ("Awaiting resolution" status).
- Tap the event to see the details.
- Tap "Edit my prediction".
- Pick the new side or redo your choice.
- Confirm. The change is immediate.
You get a mini-notification: "Your prediction on [event] has been updated."
No limit on the number of edits. You can change your mind 10 times if you want - it changes nothing.
How to cancel completely
If you no longer want to predict on this event at all:
- Go to the prediction details.
- Tap "Delete this prediction".
- Confirm.
The event disappears from My predictions. You neither gain nor lose any points at resolution - it's as if you'd never predicted.
Typical use cases:
- You predicted at random on an event you realize you don't understand. You delete it so it doesn't drag down your Oracle Score.
- You accidentally predicted the wrong side and realize it afterwards. You delete it and redo it correctly.
Difference from the Arena (where it's stricter)
This is an important difference between the two modes:
In the Arena:
- Before matching: free cancellation, editing = cancel + redo.
- After matching: cancellation = 10-20% penalty, editing = impossible.
- It's strict because an opponent is counting on you.
In Prediction Mode:
- Before the deadline: free editing and deletion, with no penalty at all.
- After the deadline: impossible (event in progress).
- It's flexible because you play against the outcome, not against someone.
This flexibility in Prediction Mode lets you learn and experiment without fear. You can change your mind based on new information, pull predictions you're no longer sure about, guilt-free.
