How to clear the cache

TL;DR

On Android: Settings → Apps → Ktkarena → Storage → "Clear cache". On iPhone: no native option, you have to uninstall/reinstall. Clearing the cache only deletes temporary data (images, thumbnails), not your bets or your account. Do it if the app lags or glitches.

Why clear the cache

The cache is a folder of temporary data the app stores on your phone to load faster:

  • Profile photos of your friends and opponents.
  • Event thumbnails.
  • Sports team logos.
  • Previous results for instant display.
  • JavaScript files of the embedded web app.

Benefits of the cache: faster navigation, less mobile data used.

Downsides when it gets big or corrupted:

  • The app lags or freezes.
  • Some images no longer appear (or appear broken).
  • Strange error messages pop up.
  • The phone runs low on overall storage.

Clearing the cache fixes 60% of performance problems. It's almost always the first thing to try.

Recommended frequency: you don't need to do it regularly. Only when the app behaves abnormally.

The Android procedure step by step

  1. Open the Android Settings (the gear).
  2. Tap "Apps" or "Applications" (the name varies by brand).
  3. Find Ktkarena in the list and tap it.
  4. Tap "Storage" or "Storage & cache".
  5. You see two buttons:
    • "Clear cache": deletes only temporary data. This is the one to use.
    • "Clear data" or "Clear storage": also deletes your local preferences (language, theme) and logs you out. Avoid except as a last resort.
  6. Tap "Clear cache". No confirmation asked - it's instant.
  7. Go back to the home screen and relaunch Ktkarena.

The app should be faster. On the first launch after clearing, it may be a bit slower while it re-downloads visual elements.

Clearing by age: on some recent Androids, you can also tap "Cache → Clear cache older than [X] days". Useful if you want to keep the recent cache.

The iPhone case: uninstall/reinstall

iOS, unlike Android, doesn't give direct access to an app's cache. It's an Apple choice. To clear the cache, you have to:

  1. On your home screen, long-press the Ktkarena icon.
  2. Tap "Delete App""Delete" in the confirmation.
  3. The app is uninstalled, the local cache is wiped.
  4. Go to the App Store, search for Ktkarena, and reinstall.
  5. Log back in with your phone number and your password.

It's more radical than Android, but it's the only official method on iOS.

Note. iOS has an "Offload App" option (Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Ktkarena → Offload App). It frees up space while keeping your documents. But it has no effect on Ktkarena's cache specifically - it's a different feature.

What you do NOT lose

It's important to be clear: clearing the cache doesn't touch your data at all. Here's what is preserved:

  • Your account: you stay logged in (on Android). On iPhone, you log back in, but that's the only change.
  • Your KTK balance: intact, down to the last KTK.
  • Your betting and prediction history: fully preserved.
  • Your badges and trophies: all kept.
  • Your friends, follows, private leagues: no changes.
  • Your ongoing disputes: continue normally.
  • Your ongoing bets: proceed to resolution as planned.

All of that lives on our servers, not in the local cache. The cache only contains visual and technical elements for display.

What you may lose (minor):

  • Your feed filtering preferences (to reconfigure if you had custom filters).
  • The chat history cache (old messages reload as needed).
  • Offline-mode images (to re-download).
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Between 30 and 150 MB depending on your usage. If you play a lot and watch lots of events, it grows. You see the exact size in Settings → Apps → Ktkarena → Storage.

You lose the visual cache and local preferences (filters, theme). You re-download them when you log back in. It's quick.

No, just pointless. The app re-downloads its elements each time, which uses a bit more mobile data. Clear the cache only when the app has a problem.
