The principle of exceptional revision
When an event is resolved, the resolution is normally final. Winnings are paid out, the bet is closed, we move on.
But in less than 0.05% of cases, a resolution can be revised after the fact. It's rare, it's exceptional, but it's possible. Here's when and why.
Indicative winnings during the event, locked after the pool phase
The winnings displayed during the event are indicative as long as the pool phase hasn't run. They're based on the odds known at that moment (matched P2P + estimated pool odds). Once the pool phase completes, the winnings of your pooled bets are locked at the calculated pool odds - and nothing moves again until the event's resolution.
The 3 reasons this happens
1. Corruption of the external source (API)
The API we use (API Sports, ESPN, etc.) can publish a wrong piece of data. If we detect that the resolution was based on false data, we correct it.
Example: API Sports published "Real Madrid 2-1 Barcelona" then corrected it to "Real Madrid 1-2 Barcelona" 6 hours later (a data-entry error on their side). We adapt our resolution.
2. Accepted dispute
When a bettor disputes a resolution within 48h and the admin rules in their favor, the resolution is revised. Your winnings may be adjusted down or up. What happens when a dispute is accepted.
3. Post-resolution fraud detection
If we detect fraud after the fact (a bettor manipulated a source, an account is linked to another, etc.), we void the resolution and readjust.
The notification you receive
If your winnings change after resolution, you receive a detailed and transparent notification:
- Subject: "Update to the resolution of your bet on [event]"
- Explanation: what changed and why.
- Calculation: how much you had received, how much you receive now, the difference.
- Reference: the revision ticket ID in our system (for traceability).
- Recourse: if you disagree with the revision, how to dispute it (yes, you can dispute a revision).
You never lose money silently with us. If something changes, you're informed immediately with all the details.
Your rights in this situation
You have the right to:
- See the full history of the resolution and the revision.
- Request the detailed explanation of the change.
- Dispute the revision if you disagree (same process as the initial dispute).
- Keep the additional winnings if the revision is in your favor (and conversely, accept the reduction if it goes against you).
You don't have the right to:
- Refuse a revision based on documented facts (corrected API error, detected fraud).
- Demand compensation for resolution changes.
