Typical cancellation cases
An event is canceled when it can no longer take place in a way that allows it to be resolved normally. The typical cases:
- Match postponed indefinitely: a match called off due to bad weather, suspended due to a pandemic, etc.
- Tournament canceled: a championship suspended for an external reason (corruption, force majeure).
- Election postponed sine die: an election canceled by political decision or crisis.
- Event impossible to verify: an external source has disappeared, a niche event whose outcome can never be confirmed again.
In these cases, no winner can be designated. The bets must be canceled and everyone refunded.
How you're notified
As soon as our system detects the cancellation (usually via API sources or an admin notification), all affected bettors receive:
- Push notification: "The event [X] has been canceled. Your 25,000 KTK bet is canceled and 100% refunded."
- Email with the details and the reason for the cancellation.
- In-app update: the bet moves to "CANCELLED" status in My bets.
The delay between the cancellation being detected and your notification is generally less than 5 minutes. There's nothing for you to do - it's automatic.
The full refund
100% of your stake returns to your wallet immediately. No withholding. No commission. No "administrative fees". Nothing.
This refund is instant - your KTK leaves escrow and appears in your available balance the very second you're notified.
Same for your opponent. You're both refunded in full. Nobody wins, nobody loses.
We charge no commission, unlike traditional bookmakers who often take administrative fees on refunds.
The difference from a postponed event (special case)
Postponed to a nearby date (within 48 hours): your bet remains valid and is resolved on the new date. There's nothing for you to do, your KTK stays in escrow.
Postponed to a distant date (> 7 days): your bet is canceled and refunded. Once the new date is known, you can place a new bet if you want.
Postponed sine die: your bet is canceled immediately and refunded (a cancellation case in the sense that it can no longer be resolved).
Postponed but already started (rare): if the match starts and is then interrupted, the resolution depends on the federation's rules (for example, victory awarded to the team in the lead at the time of the stoppage if more than 60 minutes were played). Our admin decides according to those rules.
Special case: during the pool phase (temporary user lock while the mutualized pool is being computed), the admin retains the ability to cancel the event. A coordination lock prevents conflicts between the pool computation and the cancellation. If the event is canceled during the pool phase, all bets are refunded in full (pool phase abandoned).
