Streak bonuses

TL;DR

When you chain correct predictions without missing, you trigger a "streak". The longer your streak, the bigger the points bonus on each new correct prediction. It's broken as soon as you're wrong a single time. A system that rewards consistency.

The logic behind streaks

A streak is a run of consecutive correct predictions. The system counts it automatically.

How it works:

  • You predict 1 event correctly → streak of 1.
  • You predict the next one correctly → streak of 2.
  • And so on.
  • As soon as you predict wrong a single time, your streak resets to 0.

How the bonus works: from a certain number of correct predictions in a row, each new correct prediction earns you a points bonus on top of the normal calculation. The longer your streak, the bigger the bonus.

It rewards regularity and consistency - essential qualities of a good predictor.

The bonus scale by streak length

Here is the exact scale:

Streak length Bonus multiplier
1-2 1.0 (no bonus, warming up)
3 1.05 (+5%)
5 1.10 (+10%)
7 1.15 (+15%)
10 1.20 (+20%)
15 1.30 (+30%)
20 1.40 (+40%)
30+ 1.50 (+50% - cap)

Example: you're on a streak of 12 correct predictions. Your next correct prediction earns you 1.20x the normal points (the closest tier in the scale).

Important. The bonus only applies when you predict correctly. If you predict wrong, you lose the bonus for next time (since your streak resets to 0), but you don't lose any extra points.

What breaks a streak

What breaks it:

  • A wrong prediction. Immediately, streak = 0. It's the only case.

What does not break it:

  • Deleting a prediction before resolution (the deleted prediction isn't counted).
  • An event being canceled (the event is neutral, not counted).
  • Long inactivity (90+ days without predicting): your streak is frozen, not lost - it picks up where it left off.
  • A correct prediction on an easy event (1/5). It counts normally.
  • Several correct predictions on the same day. The streak climbs normally.
  • Editing a prediction before the deadline (since the prediction isn't resolved yet).

Protection strategy. If you're on a big streak (20+) and you see an ultra-risky event, don't predict on it. Better not to predict than to end a profitable streak.

Strategies to maintain a streak

1. Specialize.
If you're good at sports, build streaks only on sports. You maximize your chances of staying correct. Predictions in themes where you're average risk breaking the streak.

2. Favor medium-difficulty events (2-3/5).
Events at 4-5/5 earn you lots of points, but often break streaks. For a long streak, you're better off with events where you have a 65-75% chance of being right.

3. Avoid 50/50 events.
If the event really is 50/50, you have a one-in-two chance of breaking your streak. Not worth it, unless your expertise gives you a real edge.

4. Be patient.
You don't have to predict every possible event. Choose your commitments carefully. The streak rewards quality more than quantity.

5. Take advantage of combined bonuses.
A streak of 15 + a featured event + an early prediction = huge combined bonuses. A single well-placed big prediction can vault you up the leaderboard.
