Why do I have to withdraw to the same method as my deposit?

TL;DR

It's a standard anti-money-laundering rule in the financial industry. You withdraw to the same method you used to deposit. This rule protects your funds and prevents money laundering. Non-negotiable, but you can combine several methods over time.

The exact rule

You can only withdraw to a method you have already used to deposit. If you have only deposited via Orange Money, your withdrawals can only go to your Orange Money number.

If you have used several methods over time (for example: 70% via Mobile Money, 30% via bank card), you can withdraw proportionally to those methods.

Why this rule exists

It's a universal rule in the financial industry. Here are the 3 reasons:

Reason 1 - Protection against money laundering

If you could deposit by card and withdraw by Mobile Money, Ktkarena would become a conversion channel between payment methods. That's exactly what money launderers are looking for. We are required by CEMAC and international regulations to prevent it.

Reason 2 - Protecting your financial identity

If someone hacked your Ktkarena account, they couldn't move the money out to THEIR payment methods. They would have to send it to YOUR methods, which drastically reduces the risk of theft.

Reason 3 - Compliance with our payment providers

Stripe, Orange Money, Wave, Yellow Card - all of our payment providers enforce this rule. We're simply complying with it.

How to combine several methods

You can use several deposit methods over time to have more flexibility at withdrawal.

Concrete example:

  • Jordan deposits 100,000 KTK via Orange Money.
  • Later, Jordan deposits 200,000 KTK via Visa card.
  • Jordan now has 300,000 KTK available, with two withdrawal methods.
  • If he wants to withdraw 90,000 KTK: he can choose 100% via Orange Money, 100% via Visa, or a mix.

Good to know. We keep the history of your deposit methods permanently. Even if you haven't used Orange Money in 6 months, you can still withdraw to it (as long as the number is still active).

Special cases

"My bank card expired, how do I withdraw?"

You can withdraw to your new card in the same name (at the same bank). If you switch banks entirely, contact support for manual validation.

"My Mobile Money number changed"

We validate it manually with proof of the change (a screenshot from your operator). Turnaround: 24-48 hours.

"I want to withdraw to someone else's Mobile Money number"

Impossible. Withdrawals must go to a method in YOUR name, verified by our KYC.
