How is the Ktkarena commission calculated?

TL;DR

Ktkarena takes a commission ONLY on peer-to-peer winnings, NEVER on your stake. The rate ranges from 1.5% to 5% depending on the stake tier. If you lose: no commission. It's our only revenue, and it's visible before every bet.

The golden rule

Ktkarena takes a commission ONLY on winnings, NEVER on your stake.

That means:

  • If you win a bet → we take a percentage of the amount you won, never of what you staked.
  • If you lose a bet → 0 KTK of commission. Your stake goes to your opponent, period.
  • If your bet is canceled before matching → 0 KTK of commission. Full refund.

It's our only revenue. No hidden spread, no monthly fees, no inactivity fees. Just this commission on winnings.

How it works in practice

Let's take a concrete example to make it clear.

Scenario: you bet 50,000 KTK and win

  • Your opponent staked 50,000 KTK against you.
  • The total pot is 100,000 KTK (50,000 + 50,000).
  • You win the bet → you get back your stake + your opponent's.
  • The tier for this bet is Standard (50,000 KTK is above 10,000).
  • Applicable commission: 4% on your opponent's stake won (50,000 KTK).
  • Commission taken: 50,000 × 4% = 2,000 KTK.

Final result:

  • You receive: 50,000 (your stake) + 50,000 (winnings) − 2,000 (commission) = 98,000 KTK.
  • Your opponent loses: 50,000 KTK.
  • Ktkarena receives: 2,000 KTK.

Important. The commission is ALWAYS displayed BEFORE you confirm your bet. You know exactly how much you'll win net if you take the bet. No surprises afterwards.

Why different tiers?

The more you stake, the lower the percentage. It's standard business logic:

  • In the Discovery tier (1,000 to 10,000 KTK), the commission is 5%. It's the majority of our betting volume, and the infrastructure cost per transaction is proportionally higher.
  • In the Institutional tier (1M to 20M KTK), the commission is 1.5%. The volume is low but the amounts are huge - the absolute commission remains very significant.

Concrete comparison:

  • 5,000 KTK bet won → 5% × 5,000 = 250 KTK in commission.
  • 5,000,000 KTK bet won → 1.5% × 5,000,000 = 75,000 KTK in commission.

The percentage is lower at the top, but the absolute value is 300x higher. It's balanced.

Pool phase commission

Pool commission: if your bet is absorbed by the pool phase at the end of an event, the commission applied is your tier's rate + 1 point. Example: in the Premium tier (3% commission), the pool commission is 4%. This surcharge covers the operational cost of the mutualized calculation. It is announced in the bet details before you enter the pool.

Comparison with traditional bookmakers

Traditional bookmakers (1xBet, Betano, etc.) don't charge you an explicit “commission”. Instead, they build their margin into the odds they display.

Concretely: if the fair odds for an event are 2.0, they'll show you 1.85. You lose 7.5% on every bet, without seeing it.

On Ktkarena, odds emerge from the P2P market between players. The commission is visible. It's more transparent, but it requires you to understand what you're paying.

Because Ktkarena provides the infrastructure: the matching system (the cascade), stake escrow, event verification, moderation, support, security. All of that is expensive to maintain. The commission is our compensation for this service.

On Ktkarena's side, no. The only other possible fees are those of the payment providers (Stripe 1.5% on cards, Yellow Card 0.5% on USDC). Mobile Money is at 0%. You don't pay Ktkarena for these fees - we pass them on to you as-is.
