I'm not receiving notifications

Reading time: 4 min Updated May 22, 2026 6,218 people found this article helpful
TL;DR

4 possible causes, in order of frequency: 1) notifications are disabled in the Ktkarena app or at the system level, 2) your phone restricts the app in the background (aggressive battery management), 3) a network connection issue, 4) a temporary bug (rare). Check these 4 points in order - it solves 99% of cases.

Step 1 - Check your Ktkarena settings

This is the most frequent cause, especially after an update or a phone change.

  1. Open Ktkarena, go to Profile → Notifications.
  2. Check that push notifications are enabled for the types you want to receive.
  3. If "Do not disturb" mode is enabled, disable it or check its time windows.
  4. If "Vacation" mode is enabled, disable it.
  5. Save.

Quick test: send yourself a test by tapping "Send a test notification" at the bottom of the screen. You should receive a push notification immediately. If yes, it was indeed a setting to fix. If not, move on to step 2.

Step 2 - Check the system permissions

Ktkarena asks for permission to send notifications on first launch. If you declined, the app doesn't have the system-level right to send any, no matter what your Ktkarena settings are.

On Android:

  1. Android Settings → Apps → Ktkarena → Notifications.
  2. Enable "Allow notifications".
  3. For each Ktkarena notification category, check that it is enabled individually.

On iPhone:

  1. Settings → Ktkarena → Notifications.
  2. Enable "Allow notifications".
  3. Also enable "Sounds", "Badges", and "Banners" so they display properly.

Quick test: run the test again from the Ktkarena app. If it works, it was the system permissions.

Step 3 - Disable battery restrictions

Many Android phones (especially Chinese brands and Samsung) have very aggressive battery management that kills apps in the background to save power. Ktkarena can then no longer receive push notifications.

On Android (varies by brand):

  • Samsung: Settings → Device care → Battery → Background usage limits → Never sleeping apps → Add Ktkarena.
  • Xiaomi/Redmi: Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Ktkarena → Battery saver → "No restrictions".
  • Huawei: Settings → Battery → App launch → Ktkarena → Disable "Manage automatically" → Enable "Auto-launch", "Secondary launch", "Run in background".
  • OnePlus / Oppo / Realme: Settings → Battery → Battery optimization → Ktkarena → "Don't optimize".
  • Stock Android (Pixel, Motorola): Settings → Apps → Ktkarena → Battery → "Unrestricted".

On iPhone:
iOS is generally less restrictive. But check anyway:

  1. Settings → General → Background App Refresh.
  2. Enable "Background App Refresh" globally.
  3. Enable it specifically for Ktkarena in the list.

Step 4 - Network diagnostics and reporting

If the first 3 steps aren't enough, there's a deeper issue.

Check your connection:

  • Do you actually have internet? Open another app (WhatsApp) to confirm.
  • Are you on a network that blocks push notifications? Some corporate WiFi networks filter Google/Apple push services. Try on 4G.
  • Are you using a VPN? Disable it temporarily to test.

Force a push token refresh:

  1. In Ktkarena, go to Profile → Notifications → Diagnostics.
  2. Tap "Regenerate push token". This forces the app to request a new token from the system.
  3. Run the test again.

If nothing works. Report the bug with: phone model and OS version, Ktkarena version (Profile → About), a description like "I'm not receiving any push notifications, not even the tests from the app", and mention everything you've already tried. How to report a bug. Reply within 24h on business days.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

It's typically a battery restriction problem. Your phone puts Ktkarena to sleep and only wakes it when the system decides. Follow step 3 above.

Settings → Ktkarena → Notifications → Sounds. Turn it on. And check that your phone isn't in silent mode (the switch on the left side of the iPhone).

Add notifications@ktkarena.com to your contacts. Mark an email as "Not spam" - after 2-3 times, Gmail/Outlook learn and stop filtering.
