TL;DR

Typical usage: 50-200 MB per month for an occasional user, 500 MB to 1 GB for an active daily user. The chat on high-traffic events is the biggest consumer. You can turn on "data saver mode", which cuts usage by 60-70% without losing the essential features.

Average usage by profile

Ktkarena is a relatively data-light app compared to streaming or social media apps. Here are the orders of magnitude:

Occasional user (1-2 sessions per week, a few bets):

  • 50-100 MB per month.

Regular user (1 session per day, ~30 minutes, ~5-10 bets/day):

  • 300-500 MB per month.

Heavy user (several sessions per day, active chat, following live events):

  • 800 MB to 1.5 GB per month.

Power user (constant chat, high-traffic events, very active prediction mode):

  • 2 GB to 4 GB per month.

For comparison:

  • WhatsApp with normal usage: ~500 MB/month.
  • Instagram: ~3-5 GB/month.
  • YouTube: ~20-50 GB/month.
  • Ktkarena is closer to WhatsApp than to Instagram.

What uses the most data

1. Real-time event chat (50% of usage).
When you take part in the chat of a live event, the app maintains a permanent connection with our servers and receives every new message. On very high-traffic events (1,000+ messages/hour), that can use ~30 MB per hour.

2. Image downloads (25% of usage).
Profile photos of other users, event thumbnails, sports team logos, badges and trophies. The cache helps a lot to avoid re-downloading.

3. Data synchronization (15% of usage).
Updates to your balance, your ongoing bets, the leaderboards. All the actions you take.

4. Push notifications (5% of usage).
Very light. The push system is optimized by Google/Apple to use a minimum.

5. Updates to the app itself (5% of usage).
When a new version is released, downloading the update (80-200 MB) counts toward your mobile data if you're not on WiFi.

Data saver mode

Ktkarena offers a data saver mode that cuts usage by 60-70% by disabling non-essential elements.

To enable:

  1. Profile → Performance → Data saver mode.
  2. Turn the option on.

What it changes:

  • Profile images and logos: low-resolution versions.
  • Real-time chat: replaced by a refresh every 10 seconds.
  • Synchronization: less frequent in the background.
  • Animations: disabled.

What it does NOT change:

  • Your bets work normally.
  • You receive all notifications.
  • Resolutions arrive in real time.
  • Account security is unchanged.

Automatic activation. You can set data saver mode to kick in only on 4G (not on WiFi). In Performance → Data saver → "Automatic activation" → "On 4G only". That way you get the full experience on WiFi and save data on 4G.

Tracking your daily usage

On Android:

  1. Android Settings → Network & internet → SIM → Data usage.
  2. You see the list of apps with their usage.
  3. Ktkarena should appear there with its exact usage for the month.

On iPhone:

  1. Settings → Cellular.
  2. Scroll down to see the list of apps.
  3. Ktkarena appears with its usage since the last reset.

In the Ktkarena app:

  1. Profile → Performance → Data statistics.
  2. You see your usage for the week, the month, and the history.
  3. If you see abnormal usage (3x your average with no change in habits), it may be a bug - report it.
